TOUR NEWS

"This is a real challange - the lineup that performed the last series of concerts had seven people in it. We used 2 keyboards players with 7 keyboards between them. This time we're going to try 4 people- just 1 keys player, with 2 keyboards." - Jonas and Andy talk about the tour

THE TANGENT, RITUAL and BEARDFISH ON THE INSIDE OUT TOUR DATES HERE

A FOUR PIECE LINE UP of the Tangent will make a small tour of Europe this MAY. The band will be Andy Tillison, Jonas Reingold and Jaime Salazar with the welcome return of Tangent guitarist KRISTER JONSSON. The gigs are part of the Inside Out Tour, and the other bands you can see at the same gigs are the amazing Ritual and Beardfish, so this is a real good chance to check out some of the best prog in the business.

This lineup does NOT mean anyone has left the band AT ALL. Guy Manning, Theo Travis and Jakko are all still fully paid up members of the Tangent and are simply not able to play on this tour because of other commitments.

"We can either play gigs, or wait forever until the alignments of the planets are correct" says Andy Tillison in an interview with Spanish webzine "Metal Cry".... "In the end, I'm sure people will welcome the chance to see the band play in some form and the small format band will be an exciting unit for us all"

ANDY:

"With this being a 3 band tour, we haven't got the time available to stand there and play our epic pieces in full, but we've put together a set that fans should really enjoy. Yes, there's a lot of the New Album going to be aired, but still some time for some old favourites. We will be doing a 20 minute medley of 3 of our long pieces, grafted together into a new epic, and I'm really looking forward to that part of the show, even though there's more than 40 keyboards patch changes in it!. Naturally I'm sorry that Jakko can't make this tour, he's been a major source of inspiration on the last album and in an ideal world it would be great to continue that with the live shows - but he'll be with us for our September show. This is to say nothing negative about Krister though, I've always enjoyed working with him and it will be real good to see him again. He really shines on the "Going Off" set. There's no person who's ever been in the band who I don't miss, - Roine, Guy, Theo, Jakko, David and Zoltan are all absent and this will be the first time I've played a concert without my buddy Sam since 1994."

JONAS:

"This is a real challange - the lineup that performed the last series of concerts had seven people in it. We used 2 keyboards players with 7 keyboards between them. This time we're going to try 4 people- just 1 keys player, with 2 keyboards. Andy's spent 2 months just programming it up so that all the sounds are still there, and this means that often each keyboard is split into 3 or 4 areas so his left hand can play a mellotron part with an organ, and his right can play lead synth then flick down an octave to do a piano part. Tomas Bodin's been doing this for years, and so we've finally managed to convince Andy to stop dragging round a ton of old keybaords, so now Krister and I might actually be able to move about a bit! We will not be automating anything though, and there will be no pre-recorded parts, a policy we've insisted on from the beginning. Krister, Jaime and I are working on the material here in Lund, Sweden, and Andy will join us for intensive rehearsals the week before the tour. We are on ther phone a lot more now!! So sorry to all vintage keyboards fans, Andy will be leaving his Minimoog in France this time.

JAIME SALAZAR:

"Will there be food on the tour?"

RITUAL

A band of astonishing capability with a unique perspective on progressive music. Mixing Scandanavian folklore with contemporary issues, this band are as immediate as Muse, yet have subtelty & depth that Muse would find difficult to match. With one of the finest voices in today's rock music, Ritual wind Zep, Gentle Giant and Radiohead around their fingers.

BEARDFISH

"Sleeping In Traffic Part One" has become on of the most talked-about albums on the progressive scene in some time. This (younger than average) progressive band have a lot for US to learn. They'll be here when a lot of us have gone!
